~waves~ is a soundscape that allows for open improvisation, and incorporates the speaking voices of the players. The two performers, Dorothy Chan and Lucy Yao, made some general recordings of their voices, one while walking through a city street, and the other from home, dreaming of the sea. The sounds of a city street (squawking of birds, car tires rushing on pavement and hitting sewer covers) turned into the sounds of a beach (seagulls, running water, and gentle breeze). ~waves~ was written in late October 2020, for Chromic Duo.
